Gated Communities: Inter- and Intraspecific Diversity of Endosymbionts Across Four Sympatric Aphid Species

چکیده
Aphids have evolved tight relationships with heritable endosymbionts, i.e., bacteria hosted within their tissues. Besides the primary endosymbiont Buchnera aphidicola , aphids host many facultative secondary endosymbionts functions they may or not benefit from. The different phenologies, lifestyles, and natural enemies of aphid species are predicted to favor selection for distinct assemblages, as well emergence intra-specific genetic diversity in symbiotic bacteria. In this study, we (1) investigated associated four from genus Aphis field, (2) characterized Hamiltonella defensa an that protects against parasitoid wasps. We observed strong differences composition communities among species. H. was clearly dominant symbiont, although its abundance each varied 25 96%. Using a multilocus sequence-typing approach, found limited strain . Each harbored two major strains, none appeared shared between Symbiont phylogenies can thus help understand (seemingly limited) mobility forces driving diversification.

Bacterial communities of two parthenogenetic aphid species cocolonizing two host plants across the Hawaiian Islands.
Aphids (Hemiptera: Aphididae) have been the focus of several studies with respect to their interactions with inherited symbionts, but bacterial communities of most aphid species are still poorly characterized. In this research, we used bar-coded pyrosequencing to characterize bacterial communities in aphids. Specifically, we examined the diversity of bacteria in two obligately parthenogenetic a...
متن کاملChange of Species Diversity in Vascular Plants Across Ecological Species Groups
Biodiversity plays a crucial role in stability and productivity of natural ecosystem. The main goal of this research was to classify ecological groups in steppe rangeland and investigate their relationships with plant diversity indices. Therefore, fifty different Land Unit Tracts (LUT) were identified in Khod-Neuk basin, Yazd province, Iran, in 2010. Vegetation and soil samples were taken in th...
متن کاملThe Physical Factors Affecting the Social Livability of Gated Communities: A Case study of Gated Communities in Tehran
Despite negative perspectives on their consequences, gated communities continue to spread in cities due to structural reasons such as globalization and economic neo-liberalism. Hence, there is a need to seek for a way of achieving a balance and make these communities livable. Due to agreement with economic market perspectives, livability principles might offer a solution for mediating the socia...
متن کاملIntraspecific genetic variation and species coexistence in plant communities.
Many studies report that intraspecific genetic variation in plants can affect community composition and coexistence. However, less is known about which traits are responsible and the mechanisms by which variation in these traits affect the associated community. Focusing on plant-plant interactions, we review empirical studies exemplifying how intraspecific genetic variation in functional traits...
متن کاملInterspecific and Intraspecific Genetic Diversity of Thunnus Species
The genus Thunnus contains eight valid species with a fossil record extending back to the Middle Eocene, about 40 million years ago (Carrol, 1988, Benton, 1993). Collette (1978) distinguished tunas into the temperate subgenus Thunnus (bluefin tuna group) and the tropical subgenus Neothunnus (yellowfin group) by the presence or absence of a central heat exchanger. The yellowfin group contains bl...
